Schumey Systems Loss

We've been hearing this phrase "systems loss" for several weeks now. It's suppose to mean loss through pilferage or in simpler terms, stolen. Meralco has been under fire from all sectors because it passes on their "systems losses" to their consumers. Because of their ineptitude, we are the ones who end up paying. We are being forced to pay for their failure and and supposed mismanagement. While Gloria's pack headed by GSIS president Winston Garcia is clawing at the heels of the Lopezes, it's hig… Continue

Flowell Galindez Pagpupugay at Paalam Ka Bel!

Continue

Flowell Galindez Usapang P 20 minimum wage addition

Continue

Flowell Galindez Usapang edukasyon vs tuition hike

Continue

Schumey Government Insincerity In The Midst Of A Crisis

While long queues of people line up to get their daily ration of NFA rice, somewhere in the south of Manila, fate of farmers hang in the balance. As the saga of the Sumilao farmers end, a new battle looms in the horizon. This time around, farmers of Calatagan, Batangas are about to lose their lands. These lands that they have toiled on and have paid fully are now about to be turned into mines. So it seems that it becomes more and more apparent that this administration lacks political will, even… Continue

carlos v. jugo People Power, the Public Sphere and the State: A Systems View (Part 2)

The State and the Public Sphere do not have direct access to each other. They carry out their respective internal operations as determined by their internal structure, processes and codes. Nevertheles, the two systems are still able to influence each other indirectly via interactions of varying strength. In his column, Manolo Quezon identified three such interactions: elections, plebiscites (or referenda) and People Power.

carlos v. jugo People Power, the Public Sphere and the State: A Systems View (Part 1)

About a month ago, Rom requested for reactions on Solita Monsod's and Manolo Quezon's respective views on People Power. Since then fellow bloggers Angela Stuart-Santiago and Schumey have weighed in. I am in agreemen… Continue

Schumey Of People Power And Propaganda

Angela Stuart Santiago posting in the Republic of Pundits debunks the propaganda being played by Gloria and those who still refuse to open their eyes to reality. Ms. Santiago discusses the issues raised by some quarters on why another People Power should not be pushed. People Power is the only peaceful means by which we can oust a criminal government, unless of of course we go by the palace's divisive assertions and end up with a full blown civil war. Back in 1986, People Power ousted a dictato… Continue

angela stuart-santiago Absurd Arguments against People Power

The arguments being propounded against an EDSA kind of action to end the morally bankrupt Arroyo regime are all absurd: 1. The ensuing political instability would impact negatively on our "booming economy." 2. We should adhere to democratic processes - wait to file an impeachment complaint in July or, better yet, wait until 2010 to vote in a new President. 3. EDSA I and II brought only cosmetic, not systemic, changes. Been there, done that. 4. The world will not forgive another EDSA. The world… Continue

Romany Sedona Much ado about nothing

So he called her a bitch. So the fuck what? It was funny as all hell - watching him squirm like that - but c’mon. It isn’t quite on the same level as Neri calling the prez evil (i suspect with a capital “E”). Joey Salceda is a typical young (or not so young) turk who throws these Americanisms around. Like Nereus Acosta said, it would be over-reacting to actually take offense at that. In fact, I kinda think that the President may have found that funny. Remember the way she spun Gloria Labandera?… Continue

Romany Sedona Welcome!

Welcome to the Republic of Pundits, citizen! This is an open invitation to anyone who writes politically themed blogs to join the Republic of Pundits. The aim RP is to gather the political thoughts of bloggers all in one place: HERE. Being placed in such close proximity, it is inevitable that so many thinkers will spark lively discussions about the state of Philippine politics. It's an experiment, if you want to call it that. I call it an experience we can all take part in. Cheers! Continue
